Les croque-mitaines, les femmes fatales, les monstres maléfiques et les fantômes prennent vie dans les photographies du photographe parisien Gui Brigaudiot. Les créatures qui ont hanté notre enfance ont trouvé refuge dans ses tirages…
En 2005, l'artiste disait ressentir un besoin de faire évoluer sa pratique. Aujourd'hui, à 30 ans, Gui refuse de montrer ou de publier son travail à tout va, dans la crainte d'être seulement pris pour un artiste déviant parmi d'autres. Pour être accepté par un plus large public à sa juste valeur il a choisi d’adoucir son style en y intégrant les attributs de la mode : palettes très colorées,
haute couture et tableaux vivants. Il s'est rapidement créé un réseau de modèles et de stylistes et s'est constitué un portfolio d'images marquées, autant par sa malicieuse imagination que par un style d'une grande élégance. Sa rébellion s’inscrit à présent dans un monde où se côtoient « inquiétante étrangeté » et beauté.
Le photographe décrit lui même ce qui l'intéresse, faire des mises en scène théâtrales avec un casting d'êtres « qui se sentent seuls, qui sont dans la peur et dans l'expectative du moment-clef de leur existence sans savoir ce qu'il sera ».

Bogeymen, beasts, poisonous women, malevolent monsters, and ghosts all come alive in the photographs of the Paris-based photographer Gui Brigaudiot. The beasts that haunted our childhood have now found another home in his sleek and luminous surfaces...
By 2005, however, the artist says that he felt his practice needed a makeover. Now 30 years old, Brigaudiot had not been able to exhibit or publish his works widely, dismissed by many as just another deviant. To reach a wider audience, the artist decided to soften his style by liberally embracing the attributes of high fashion: lush color, high style, and narrative tableau. He soon made the acquaintance of models and stylists, building up a portfolio of images that blended his wicked imagination with more acceptable markings of fashion. He now rebels in an alternative world of models beautiful in their weirdness.
The photographer describes what attracts him to his growing cast of characters is a desire to place within a frame "those who feel lonely, in fear or anguish, and all those who are waiting for the key moment in their lives, without knowing when this will come and what this will be."
